Work continues in the eastern portion of the project area – from west of U.S. 35 to the Ohio state line. Crews are pouring new concrete barriers to prepare for traffic to move onto the new travel lane.

Lots of progress has been made along the eastern portion of the project area! Improvements from west of US 35 to the Ohio state line include an added lane in each direction, pavement replacement, interchange modifications, & bridge improvements.

This week’s wintry weather pushed the overnight work and closures expected on the State Road 1 ramps. Eastbound and westbound I-70 ramps to and from S.R. 1 are expected to close for up to a few hours each between 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

Progress continues in the western portion of the project area – from west of S.R. 1 to west of Centerville. Shoulder strengthening paves the way for construction to begin early next year.

Good news headed into the holidays! The U.S. 40 ramps are open. The ramps from eastbound and westbound U.S. 40 to eastbound I-70 reopened early this morning. Drivers will also notice a new traffic configuration near Eaton Pike with a shift to new roadway.

The I-70 corridor is a busy one, and it’s showing its age. One of the biggest challenges is to keep traffic flowing during construction. Overnight closures are necessary to keep two lanes of traffic open during peak hours. Watch this short video to learn more.

Heads-up drivers: eastbound I-70 near Washington Road will be reduced to a single lane overnight tonight, Thursday, and Friday. Crews are doing demo work at the bridge from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. The work could last until 10 a.m. on Saturday.
