the idea that anne let louis go as a bookend to her literary exorcism of grief but continued via lestat, the personification of hope, endurance, & possibility is so deeply moving to me. iwtv was primarily about grief, but the rest of tvc is an ode to the beauty of survival.

helen & dale’s relationship is so incredibly special & unique in the landscape of typical tv relationships (particularly between men & women), and i’m forever grateful for them 🩶

Heard an interview of his where he says that this’s his fav scene to shoot form the show & the director made them drink for real before each shot & by the end of it both were drunk & there were ppl watching them from the other side cheering them up when they started kissing! 🤭

i’ve talked before about lestat’s specific cadence on various phrases in this scene but when he says “i wonder…” that soft little ‘hah’ breath he gives to bare his teeth just a bit gives me goosebumps. thank you for that sam reid

he strikes me as somebody with this deep-buried acceptance that his only escape and shot at rest is death and it’s the unconscious drive behind some of his actions

iwtv is so good but it’s disappointing that so much of this fandom views it solely as the abuse and racism show, and any analysis of the shows very obvious themes abt love/forgiveness/finding meaning/self-acceptance gets left out

and lestat is the encapsulation of the pleasure principle (the life instinct), driven by the instinct to seek out pleasure to avoid pain....the two forces working in tandem, often in conflict, with each other, but both ultimately necessary......oh the loustat of it all
