Just days into Hydro's controversial Edgar Dam works, serious concerns are being raised that the project is already in breach of federal environmental law, threatening the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. More info to come. #RestoreNatureNotConcrete #RestorePedder

For anyone interested in just how little interest or care Min Plibersek takes in World Heritage areas, she permitted Hydro’s dam works in the TWWHA without a full EIS. Here is what they’ve done already at Edgar campground. #auspol RestorePedder

No biosecurity station in place as required, just this pathetic sign: Wash Down Area. I am sure people who have fought for the TWWHA will be appalled by just how much our EPBC and Minister are failing places of ‘outstanding universal value.’ #auspol RestorePedder

Hydro Tas BREACHING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS IN TWWHA! We urge Tanya Plibersek to declare the dam works in the TWWHA as a CONTROLLED ACTION. With no biosecurity station & over clearing of vegetation, action is needed NOW to protect the TWWHA. Hold Hydro accountable, share now!

70 yrs ago people saw what an incredibly beautiful & unique place Lake Pedder was. On 8th March 1955, Lake Pedder was proclaimed a National Park inclusive of over 230 square kilometers of untouched Tasmanian wilderness.

Restoring the 242sqkms of peatland under Pedder impoundment would be globally significant! Restoring Lake Pedder and Serpentine Valley is such a big idea, it is too much for small minds in Govt. RestorePedder #politas

We camped out under dark skies, walked amongst ferns & fungi, & Paddled for Pedder! While we had mostly uninterrupted views, the reminder of Hydro’s & the Government’s extractivism was still there. Scotts Pk Dam & the invasive works at Edgar Dam serving as constant reminders.

Australia has still not nominated a flagship project for ecosystem restoration in this UN Decade. Restoring Lake Pedder is perfect if only Albo had political will. #auspol RestorePedder

“Rewilding can restore what has been Lost” writes Bob Hodderness-Roddam. The benefits of ecosystem restoration in the context of agriculture lends lessons to the potential for large-scale ecosystem restoration of Lake Pedder and SW Lutruwita. Senator Murray Watt will you listen?

September 8 1972, 53 years ago today, Brenda Hean & Max Price took off from Hobart in a Tiger Moth bound for Canberra to lobby against the flooding of Lake Pedder. They were never seen again. We will never forget them or their goal to save Lake Pedder. It inspires us to this day.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake at Strathgordon is not funny. Edgar and Scott’s Peak dams are a human constructed danger Tas does not have to have. 4.4 is not insignificant. What if it is a precursor to much stronger 7? Time to decommission the dams. RestorePedder

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake with it's epicenter right next to the Edgar & Serpentine Dams was felt this morning. The consequences of these 2 poorly built dams is increased risk of failure, especially in the event of a large quake. A STRONGER EARTHQUAKE IN THE REGION IS POSSIBLE.

The issue lies: while the probability of failure is extremely low, the consequences could be catastrophic. The dams were recklessly built on an active fault line, and works threaten the immense conservation & cultural value of the Tas Wilderness World Heritage Area.
