Four new ARG samples resistant paraquat (and glyphosate) confirmed in 2024 from WA. Last year it was only two. There is plenty of AHRI UWA SAgE work on ryegrass atm I was thinking to show to those interested on Friday May 31 after lunch at 1pm?

Thank you David and Nick! In the meantime glasshouse & lab characterisation continues and it could not be more clear: 100% survival to all tested rates (up to 6L/ha product ~ 290gai/ha of co-formulated imazapyr+imazamox): plenty of work to do on this Australia first case.

Many tests around glyphosate use pattern: 3 rates of glyph600 (1.5L, 3L, 5L), 1.5L glyph + 500ml clethodim, 1.5L glyph + 500ml clethodim + 2L glufosinate, 1.5L glyph + Voraxor 100ml. All reported soon to who sent ARG samples in at harvest 2023.

What is the most effective strategy for a double knock for ryegrass? Which would you pick/adopt as best resistance management? A) 5L Crucial fb 3L Paraquat250 + 200ml Voraxor Vs B) 1.5L Crucial + 100ml Voraxor fb 3L Paraquat + 100ml Voraxor. I’ll post photos end of poll.

Glyphosate resistant ARG 3WAT spayed with the new proposed rate of paraquat: left is simply 900ml/ha Paraquat 250 (no adjuvant) vs right is the same rate with Wetter (TX) 0.2%. Plants on the left will set seed and start their journey to become resistant to paraquat also.

Glufosinate mixes do work on annual ryegrass resistant to clethodim, glyphosate, paraquat, bixlozone (low level). All options tested post-emergence 12th June 24; 18/10C; ~350mm rain since; Mt Barker WA. First photos here: Untreated vs best treatment - 12 WAT. [thread 👇]

New Group 1 powerful chemistry coming to control FOP/DIM resistant grasses. It should be similarly very effective on ARG. 👍 Syngenta ANZ pubs.acs.org/doi/epdf/10.10…

Awesome paper Dr Danica E Goggin. Outcome 1: Prosulfocarb will be effective on metabolic trifluralin-resistant ARG. The observed correlation between the capacity of ARG to activate prosulfocarb and metabolise tref means that prosulfocarb could slow metabolic resistance to tref!

Guess which herbicide was mixed with either glyphosate or paraquat to dramatically boost kill rate and stop seed set of dual resistant ryegrass.

Glufosinate + Terrador: this is excellent in terms of visual control but from the centre of rosette fleabane starts to recover 2WAT.

Now into the mixes: here 2 actives. Glufosinate + 2,4-D. Surprisingly good progressive control. Probably best treatment overall. It will be interesting to work on this concept (Gr. 4+Gr.10). Same additive interaction seen in Palmer in US...Rodrigo Werle

Barry Haskins Jack Daniel Interesting but not what I've seen in our fenceline trial where ARG was collected. We compared an approx. equivalent (gai/ha) of Gr. 14: 1)Voraxor240ml 2)TerrainFlow125ml+Sierra150ml 3)TerrainFlow125ml+Terrador40g Photos in same order: Voraxor most effective (June spray).
