This week's Physical & Mental Health Across the Lifespan Symposium in #Ipswich was a success for the team from USQ Centre for Health Research. The #Ipswich event was a chance for researchers & health professionals to hear the latest research and build new connections. #UniSQproud


One of the lesser-known symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease is the impact it has on the voice, but for one community, singing has lifted voices & spirits. USQ Centre for Health Research's Melissa Forbes ( @m_t_forbes ) says singing is valuable exercise, because it improves an area the disease impairs.

Via funding from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry #FutureDroughtFund, Professor John Rolfe CQUniversity Rural_Economies_Research is working with 9 regions planning #DroughtResilience. Professor Sonja March, Director of the University’s USQ Centre for Health Research, says health systems across the globe are facing unprecedented challenges. To respond to this urgent need, University of Southern Queensland has made health one of its research flagships. #WeAreHealth

Manna Research Fellow Dr Tracy Kolbe-Alexander is Assoc. HOS – Research in the School of Health & Medical Science at the University of Southern Queensland& an Hon. Assoc. Prof. at the Uni of Cape Town. Her #research focuses on the role of phys activity & other health-seeking behaviours on #health and #wellbeing.


“This funding will allow us to deliver a program for regional communities, determine how acceptable and effective it is, and ultimately help us to improve access to evidence-based care for youth anxiety in these areas,” Sonja March says of an exciting new digital model.
