Honored to celebrate Sunrise’s own Loretta Young for decades of service to Veterans and youth through American Legion Post 365. Grateful to Mayor Ryan and Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick for proclaiming Oct 28 as Loretta Young Day in Sunrise and the congressional district!

Team 96 joined the Greater Sunrise Chamber of Commerce and Sunrise Commissioner Jacqueline Guzman to welcome Super Bowlz to the District! This family run restaurant offers healthy eats served up bowl style, and is conveniently located on Commercial Boulevard east of the Sawgrass.

Had an amazing time last Friday at the City of Coral Springs Patriotic Community Concert honoring our brave Veterans and their families! Huge thanks to the city for an incredible night of music and recognition for our veterans. Tally had a blast too, she loved every moment!

This Veterans Day, we pause to reflect and give thanks to those who’ve worn the uniform with honor.  We are forever grateful for your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to protecting our freedom.

Had a great time with my colleagues, Robin Bartleman and Chip LaMarca❗️ at last night’s annual FES Broward Legislative Dinner discussing the upcoming session and key policies and initiatives impacting the engineering profession, Broward County, and the State of Florida.

Honored to have Team 96 at the ribbon cutting for the Craig and Barbara Weiner Holocaust Museum at NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library. Learning from past atrocities is more important than ever. Grateful to BCPS and to Craig and Barbara for donating artifacts that bring history to life.

For the 6th Session in a row, I’m filing HB 41 - Sales of Ammunition, also known as “Jaime’s Law”. This legislation, seeks to close the background check loophole by mandating background checks on all individuals purchasing ammunition.

Team 96 had the opportunity to tour BLU by ThriveWell last week, a state-of-the-art hub for wellness and longevity in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. From vitality coaching to pickleball, cold plunges, saunas, and more, BLU is redefining the path to a healthier life.

HB 397 - Violations of Pretrial Release for Violent Crimes strengthens accountability for violent offenders who violate release conditions, improves first-appearance procedures, and gives law enforcement clearer tools to protect victims and communities.

As we wrap up Committee Week 4, I want to thank everyone who has traveled to Tallahassee so far to meet with me or my staff. Your advocacy truly helps shape Florida’s future, and I look forward to seeing even more of you in the weeks ahead.

I’ve filed HB 285: Rights of Crime Victims which strengthens victims’ voices and clarifies their rights in legal proceedings. It allows victims to refuse contact with a defendant’s attorney and requires prosecutors to be notified and present for any communication that does occur.

Yesterday in the Judiciary Committee, I once again debated HB 133, a recurring effort to roll back part of the bipartisan Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act by lowering the long-gun purchase age from 21 to 18.

Congratulations to Chief Moser on his retirement from the Coral Springs Fire Department after an incredible 25-year career. His dedication to the Coral Springs community made a lasting impact. Wishing him the best as he begins his next chapter with the Hollywood Fire Department!
