I spent many hours over coffee with Judge Parker, talking about life, politics, and family. He was a truly remarkable man that I will miss dearly. It was my distinct honor to introduce a resolution for the Rhode Island House of Representatives to adjourn in his memory.

We often focus on those who commit crimes, how they should be judged, sentenced, & rehabilitated. But we cannot forget that many crimes have a victim. By investing in victim support services, we strengthen our communities and ensure that every survivor has the resources to heal.

Supporting our crime victims is simply the right thing to do. That is why I introduced the V.I.C.T.I.M. Act, which will help provide needed resources to our victims advocacy and support groups that are facing large federal budget cuts.
