Almost like someone put the FaBIO history table or something more easily digestible to same effect in front of Kevin McGonigle, and he seized on that as being his greatest weak spot to rectify in an else stellar plate profile? Did he make changes that maybe rob L vs R output?

Not having played pro baseball (😉!), I’d guess that it’s really hard for a one-sided-only batter to alter their setup+stance+timing mechanism+swing+etc. against one pitcher handedness type without sone consequential unintended changes to approach versus other-handers.

But watch out if Kevin McGonigle has found left-on-left thunder & there is simply a small-sample-owed delay in left-on-right plate trips catching up. Then we’re debating him versus a favorite International Free Agent signee as the top position player in minors (as I forecast?).

On #BuiltForThis Astros… Brandon Walter should have MLB LHSP priority over Colton Gordon. Walter as GB weak-contact-inducer with K, too, is better equipped to MLB SP & esp. in quirky close-corner-fenced HOU park than the CTL+K with fringy batted ball profile Gordon is.

In just getting 1 MLB start & 5 scoreless frames from Brandon Walter so far in ‘25, #BuiltForThis Astros are very blowing an MLB opportunity to strike while Walter’s batted-ball-profile-packed iron is glowingly hot.

Cole Young is being selected to MLB roster for a debut. He’s been warm in May but my thru later May analysis had his AAA batted ball profile in awful shape. Maybe he could catch streak+confidence-owed lightning for spell, but eventually bat runs cold & returns to AAA I think.

#TridentsUp Mariners have more often been just out rather than just in MLB playoffs in recent years. There is some internal pressure to strike while bat (but not batted ball profile?) of Cole Young is warm & MLB him early even if 1st option year is (likelier) lost later in ‘25.

Won’t be the last of these in MLB for Denzel Clarke either. While pulling up various MiLBTV plays to review for FaBIO quality control purposes, I stumbled onto a few of these from him simply in scrolling through game video.

In 66 PA knee return/A+ debut, Jonny Farmelo has flashed very loud bat. 97th %ile hit-and-power-leaning batted ball profile has made 97th %ile hits (AVG) & 100th %ile extra bases (ISO) on batted balls. Holes: minus BB+HBP% & K Avoid%, minus minus Same-Handed Pitchers Overall.

🔮Fantasy players who have stash space should have Astros Brandon Walter reserved now for remainder of 2025. Probably not a multiyear dynasty player at this stage of his career but fundamentals are so good now that he could bear lots of fruit on the cheap for remainder of '25.

Flaws with '25 High A Arjun Nimmala batted ball profile are largely isolated to the LD/IFFB Avoid/Pull GB Avoid hit trio. It's why AVG lags ISO by amount it does; 74 Pull OFFB Rating makes gap narrower than it else would be. RHB has just a 9 Overall vs Oppo-Handed Pitchers.

MLB should limit number of players that a club can 60-day IL? And 15-day IL? If a club gets into a pickle of not having an IL spot for an injured player, they must trade an injured player from a disadvantaged leverage position, else just keep player active until spot clears?

Colton Gordon figures to improve & be useful to better in Astros seasons ahead. But right now #BuiltForThis Astros have the wrong LHSP from AAA club in their MLB rotation.

Even after “more physical setbacks”, what I forecast as possible for #RepDetroit SS/2B prospect Kevin McGonigle come October 2025 remains in the cards if the bat continues to play louder than it did a year ago. No, I didn’t project him onto an Arizona Fall League roster then.
