People get angry about assisted sprinting with a motorized device from a stimulus perspective, but have athletes sprint with the wind. Strange. I think a big peice of what is missing is that assisted sprinting can help with developing better technique.

Feel the need, the need for speed… Use 5yd—>10yd Accelerations and 30yd—> F10yd to determine if your athletes need to improve upon acceleration or max velocity. Thanks to Coach Joe Stokowski for originally making this chart & Rob Assise for helping with the conversions!!!

I am running fall sprint sessions and jump sessions on Sundays. Group size 3 - 5. Located in Tinley Park. Consistency is imperative to see results. Additional weekly workout provided via FYTT. DM if interested.

A lot of debate on these topics in my thread these days. Short form is a poor medium as each requires nuance. I wrote these years ago, and I still agree with the vast majority of what I wrote - but I have also learned quite a bit since!

I’ve trained a lot of soccer players in small group sessions (middle school - college). ~95% show excessive knee extension & ~90% heel strike when sprinting. This is always a foot/ankle issue and addressing it from a neurological lens is helpful. Just sprinting isn’t enough.

This is our Day 1 session on how we teach Game Speed! 🔊🆙 Definition - The Speed that you accelerate or run and can change direction under control. Check out Tony Villani curriculum b/c this is where I adapted it from.

My daughter appears to love pitching in softball, so I have started to dive into pitching technique. Man, does my background in track and field make it so much easier!

10U baseball has taught me that home plate umpires should either set up in the dugout or where the parents sit on either baseline. Clearly better vantage points based on their conviction in judging balls/strikes.
