Single-cell seq with multiple differentiation trajectories? Pseudotime inference? Dynamic QTLs with lineage specificity? Throwbacks to the good old days of bulk sequencing (i.e. 2 years ago)?? Yes, folks, we’ve got it all! Check out our preprint:

So excited to share our recent work! It's a full day late, so I'm sure most of the scientific community has already dug deep into the paper 😂, but for those that haven't yet, bite-sized version below! (🧵1/n)

For the past couple of years we have been working on a new in vitro model for dynamic eQTL mapping. Our goal was to develop a model that will allow us to map eQTLs that are only active early in development --

For the past few years I've been working to characterize embryoid bodies as a system for the discovery of dynamic eQTLs. The pilot study is available as a preprint now, and we're really excited about the potential future directions with this model!

Excited to share our latest paper on single-cell, lineage-specific eQTLs in differentiating cardiomyocytes. Led by Josh Popp and Reem Elorbany, collab with Yoav Gilad. Online early @plosgenetics: journals.plos.org/plosgenetics/a…

So excited to share my first paper, out in final form at PLOS Genetics! Co-led w the amazing Reem Elorbany, we used single-cell RNA-seq to find hundreds of dynamic eQTLs in differentiating cardiomyocytes (1/3) journals.plos.org/plosgenetics/a…

Cells don't differentiate at the same speed; they don't even head down the same path. W single cell data we pinned down & compared very homogeneous groups of cells, better than we could in bulk ➡️ way more genetic effects, many of em specific to one path or the other! (2/3)

Icing on the cake is that after characterizing these paths & cell types, we can go back and take a closer look at the bulk data, revealing hundreds of cell type-specific eQTLs in cell types we previously weren't even sure existed. (3/3)

My sister @heba_elorbany’s documentary is on PBS, and free to watch for the next month! It explores the last few decades of American history through the lens of a variety of Muslim American experiences. Check it out and let me know what you think! pbs.org/pov/films/acto…
