The Commonwealth War Graves Doctoral Scholarship will examine what the #PunjabRegisters tell us about the commemoration and non-commemoration of South Asian soldiers after the First World War. cwgc.org/our-work/news/… 3/10.

An unexpected appearance by Rishi Sunak this morning Good Morning Britain, standing alongside 99 year old DDay veteran Peter Kent, at a Commonwealth War Graves launch event in Whitehall. They were sending the #DDay80 torch on a UK tour, helping to ignite interest among young people for the 80th anniversary.






Subadar-Major Bawa Singh, 23rd #Sikh Pioneers, was 1 of 128 men from Panjaur, Hoshiarpur, #Punjab who constituted 1.5 million Indian men who fought in #WW1. Names of Punjabi soldiers can be found in the WW1 Punjab recruitment registers UK Punjab Heritage Association. #WeWillRememberThem #1914Sikhs


This #WW1 archive from the Lahore Museum is slowing being digitised by UK Punjab Heritage Association enabling tens of thousands of Punjabis to research their forefathers contribution to the First World War, thanks to great partnerships with Uni of Greenwich Gavin Rand @UoGHistorians National Army Museum

Research by Uni of Greenwich PhD students, George Williams & Jasmin & in collaboration with UK Punjab Heritage Association, suggests there are thousands of Punjabi casualties missing from the Commonwealth War Graves casualty database. Join us on Saturday to help find them.
