Exciting announcement. We developed a scale that assesses people’s endorsement of two beliefs. 1) emotions are caused solely by events, 2) cognitive change leads to emotional change. REBTers may recognise these ideas as fitting into the concepts of A-C and B-C thinking. 1/4

The 15-item cognitive mediation beliefs questionnaire (CMBQ) was validated with occupational samples, including participants with a mental health condition. You can find the measure here: researchgate.net/publication/34… 2/4

Dr Martin J. Turner (@drmjturner) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We found that A-C thinking was related to poorer emotion regulation tendencies, poorer mental health, and more persistent, intense, and sensitive emotional reactivity (that’s a bad thing). B-C thinking yielded opposing results. 3/4

We are making great progress with IAREBT. Hopefully in the new year we will be open to individual members and other associations. Keep an eye on our website REBT UK REBTuk.com. My advice, be part of something for the enhancement of REBT across the globe.
