Love these photos from our member group Kirriemuir Day Centre, who recently welcomed 4 hens from WAAP Hen Rescue. As you can see, they're settling in well and have been a great hit with their members, bringing back memories from childhood and days working on farms. #FeelGoodFriday

Yesterday we had a lovely visit from Therapy dog Agnes and her owner Margaret. Residents love meeting Agnes, and Agnes loves having lots of ear scratches and compliments! 🐶🐾 Here are Margaret, Agnes and Joan sitting outside in the sunshine! #qmecare #petsastherapy #therapydog

Morning Twitteroos …. In case you missed it yesterday.. …It’s not that I’m stopping typing, heaven forbid. I learnt a hard lesson one Christmas which still sends shivers up my spine, the stories in my book. I’ll still be typing just not publishing. whichmeamitoday.wordpress.com/2021/08/13/my-…

If you see someone who might need assistance, for example looking lost or overwhelmed - it's important to see the person as an individual – not just the symptoms of dementia. We can help put the person at ease, make the situation less stressful & ensure they feel respected.

It has been observed that our response to #music is one thing that #dementia cannot destroy. The key is introducing music that is personal to the listener. Find out more about the power of personal playlists and the science behind the phenomenon: bit.ly/3jv7yL5

No two people will experience dementia in the same way, every person with dementia is unique, and will require different levels of care, support and communication. Everyone with dementia should be treated as an individual, and no one should be defined by their condition.

We often talk of making musical playlists linked to people’s life stories – but have we ever considered a similar focus on #food – perhaps ‘Menus for a lifetime’? Sally Knocker explores food-based ideas for #PersonCentredCare. Perfect for #NHWeek2022 mycarematters.org/feasts-to-reme…

I do lots of work with older people, here is a little tip: if you work with people who are now 70, they were 18 in 1970 not 1940. They listened to The Beatles, The Jackson 5 & Diana Ross. They wore flares and bright clothes. They were *not* in the war nor listened to Vera Lynn.
