Big day for SAGES is in Tampa in 2026! delegation! We just testified on the AMA House of Delegates floor (1,000+ attendees) & alongside NY delegation helped move the AMA to tackle the issue of denials of proven treatments labeled as “experimental” by insurers.

Mission Accomplished @SAGES_updates AMA Delegation! In collaboration with American Academy of Pediatrics & ASMBS we moved the AMA to address comprehensive pediatric obesity treatment and evolving guidelines regarding bariatric surgical candidacy. Great team effort!

Strong work by @SAGES_updates AMA Delegation. Working with ASMBS, ASGE GI Endoscopy, & our Digestive Diseases Section Council we advanced AMA policy addressing insurance discrimination of patients with obesity, the use of BMI, & oversight of AI use in generating coverage denials.
