While I’d be the first to admit that a battery is a strange thing to get excited about, I love these SmallRig vlocks. They’re complete, all purpose batteries with 8v, 12v, USB-C, USB-A, and Dtap ports.

Almost universally, interviews come out better when you’re just hanging out w/ one camera and minimal / no artificial lighting than on proper sets with multiple cams, 2-3 lights, neg and all that. Have to ask yourself if you’re trying to impress Netflix or trying to tell a story.

This is all the gear I’m bringing for the shoot today. 1 camera, an Easyrig, and 1 light. Sometimes not having a car to stuff full of gear seems like a good thing.

I returned from the first day of production on a new documentary and told my wife all about what happened. Her response? “You’re full of shit.” I believe this means I’m on the right path.

Please help. Yesterday while filming a doc about the underground exotic pet trade my Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K suddenly wouldn’t turn back on. This went on for about five minutes and then it came back to life. Now it’s seeming as if it’s taking an extremely long time to boot

Newark Penn Station has to have the most annoying time table in travel history. Rather than just changing to update current arrival times it spins through everything like a slot machine. But the longer I sat here watching it the more sense it made: travel in the USA is now very

The ultimate mod to the Blackmagic Pocket 4K. I love this camera because of its size, versatility, and image quality… but the lack of any battery life meant you always had to rig it up… and the placement of the screen on the back wasn’t ideal for shooting handheld (the reason

If anyone is looking to buy an ARRI LogC3 code for the GH6 or GH7, the Panasonic Store at Amazon has them for $60 cheaper than anyone else.

64 Days — a film that I shot some of about the upheavals between Election Day 2020 and J6th — begins its theater run today. Playing at Cinema Village in NYC with more to come.

So nobody said nothing about the box camera on the left that doesn’t have an internal monitor at all but everyone freaked out over the box camera on the right with an internal monitor because it doesn’t flip out. Us camera people are dumb.

They always find a way to get ya 🤣 Blackmagic Design charges really cheap prices for their cameras but then makes their money back by charging exorbitant prices for their accessories. $500 for a top handle???

This is the Focus Rat. It’s probably one of the worst implemented pieces of film gear ever to hit the market. It works incredibly well as a saddle to position the camera on or to use while shooting handheld but the rustle from the fabric scrapping against the beads on the inside
