Last year, City Council committed to developing new non-police initiatives. On January 20th, help us remind City Council that new budget investments should focus on non-police interventions, not more policing. Join us: fb.me/e/bjY1vnFLy

Kudos to Dianne Saxe - Toronto City Council Ward 11, UR for tough questions about public safety budget. Where are we on Auditor General TO report saying non-police response is better for people in crisis & cheaper overall? torontoauditor.ca/report/review-… Why spend $48M on police rather than expanding crisis response? #TOpoli

Good point @ChrisMoiseTO Until recently, the City reported the Police budget as a stand-alone item, as it's the single largest cost. Now it's rolled ups with other public safety costs like Fire and EMS - why the change? #TOpoli

Thanks Alejandra Bravo for asking one of the big questions of the budget - why not invest more in services that support people in crisis? If there is $48M for enforcement, why only $9M for shelter, $1M to cover shortfall on the CURRENT non-police crisis response pilots #TOpoli

Let John Tory know Toronto needs balance in community safety budgets. His plan, w/ $48 million for policing & no funds for expanding highly successful mental health pilots is more expensive & less effective #topoli #Police Wrtie to the Mayor now at bit.ly/BalanceSafety
