Touchdown in #Vanuatu today for the #ParliamentariansForHealth forum. Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality, 🇻🇺 Health Minister Hon John Still Tari Qetu, Director General of Health Hon Posikai Samuel Tapo, and my World Health Organization (WHO) colleagues working in the country.

As a former health minister, I recognize the important role forums like the #ParliamentariansForHealth play in sharing knowledge and finding solutions to pressing health issues. We learn from each other and work together to make a difference.

My sincere condolences to all of Maoridom and the people of Aotearoa for the sad loss of Kiingi Tuheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero VII who served his people with commitment and humility. And I welcome Nga Wai Hono i te po Paki, daughter of Kiingi Tuheitia, as the new Maori queen.

The future of health in the Region depends on our health workers – doctors, nurses, midwives, radiation techs, pharmacists and more. Many are leaving home for opportunities abroad, so we must act now to retain and support our essential workforce. #ParliamentariansForHealth
