Science communication is spending 20 hours reading 50 scientific papers so you can confidently say “according to the research we are in fact not 100% sure”.

Your daily reminder that the insulin I’ve used for 24 years, Humalog, has gone from $21 a vial to $275 a vial with no changes to the insulin or even the packaging. That’s a 1200% increase on a hormone every human requires to live, but my body can’t make. I die in 48 hours w/o it

Disabled people are not lesser. Disabled people are not inferior. The insidious force of ableism conspires to devalue disabled people. We do not need to overcome disability. We need to overcome ableism.

Standing behind an elderly woman at CVS Pharmacy and she’s buying insulin. $1200. She’s visibly upset, and I’m trying not to cry also. Pharmacist says “well at least your insurance paid for over half bc the cash price is over $3000” HOW HAVE WE LET THEM CONVINCE US THIS IS OKAY?

Tomorrow is the 100 year anniversary of the discovery of insulin. In 1921, insulin’s discoverers sold its patent for $1 so insulin would be affordable to all. Today, a single vial of insulin that lasts me about a week is priced at $300+, only in the United States.

The tiniest kitchen fire (very contained) led to a full on Fire Extinguisher Safety Class for the people I live with. I forget, sometimes, that fire safety is so deeply ingrained in my identity. Thanks dad

My professor yanked my insulin pump off the table, thinking it was a phone. She broke it. Can I demand she replace it? (@legaladvice_txt) reddit.com/r/legaladvice/…

When you have an illness, you often get held up as example of strength, and while your condition forces you to be resilient, you are also expected to act that way. You struggle to talk about how hard it really because without realising you're so used to meeting that expectation.

“Don’t ask friends for help moving as an adult” “don’t ask friends to do a potluck as an adult” you can literally ask me to hold your hand at the dentist and I will do it
