ucf.edu/news/los-angel… Humbled to share some thoughts on how we need to look ahead at disaster recovery protecting people and communities as we think about the future of emergency management. USF School of Public Affairs USF College of Arts and Sciences SO to Natural Hazards Center and USF Humanities Institute for my opportunity to work on this.

This was my ‘Leadership in Public Service’ class last night. 7 stakeholder groups centered around inmate firefighting in response to LA fires. Some groups were more popular than others (eg. State legislators) and one student got the photo assignment 😂 USF School of Public Affairs #funtimes

Doing some qualitative coding for work with Dr. Amer Hamad Issa Abukhalaf and being reminded that only contextual info from interviews could warm your heart about how much parents will do for their children, even when they are struggling themselves after disasters

So proud of Paige Laine Moore, PhD for this work in Public Administration Quarterly! ALSO, extra props for the dope title! “Who YA GONNA CALL?” Maybe not the Police: Transgender Peoples’ Perceptions of and Experiences With the Police - Seth J. Meyer, Paige L. Moore, 2025 journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/07…

Had a fantastic opportunity through ASPA Suncoast to hear Hillsborough County EM Director talk about the county’s experiences and work during the 2024 hurricane season and as stated by the subject matter expert himself, after-action reports are critical to assess for future planning!

Had an absolutely amazing class last night with my guest speaker and former boss as the Teacher’s Assistant. We dealt with issues of hiring practices and new parks placement in the epic municipality of Cattleton #leadershipinpractice USF School of Public Affairs

Come see our awesome #IRSPM2025 panelists on 4/9, with Rebecca Entress on at 2:30 pm, “Navigating Crisis: Utility Communication and Resilience in Marginalized Communities During Power Outages”

Happening now…Paige Laine Moore, PhD discussing her investigation of police complaint procedures in NC and more/less autonomous processes influencing the administrative burdens placed on people doing so

Day 3 of #IRSPM2025 and we had some fantastic presentations this morning at 8:30 am looking at co-production and the social equity puzzle! Paige Laine Moore, PhD Dr Dayo Eseonu, @deseonu on that blue thing

I couldn’t have done this work justice without Kaila Witkowski Check out our report on the 2023 Maui fires, looking at it a little differently. Now that’s a community I strive to emulate when it comes to neighbors helping neighbors.

Hot off the press! Naim Kapucu and I provide an overview of networked governance for interorganizational coordination in disasters. It’s going back to basics but those basics are more critical than ever for effective response! Huge thanks to the editors and peer-reviewers USF School of Public Affairs

Reunited at last! Special thanks to Dominika Bukalova for inviting me out to School of Public Affairs for the ALEO workshop on EM & Fire Preparedness

Reflecting the insights shared from a variety of backgrounds, it’s more clear to me than ever that 1. Local gov’ts are the best 2. First responders do God’s work, and 3. Good emergency management must have collaboration and preparedness Repping USF School of Public Affairs, TFTI School of Public Affairs

Had a cool opportunity to facilitate convos btwn community orgs on coordination, preparedness, and workforce in EM. A colleague and I are leading a team of REU UGs from around the US this summer to analyze multiple datapoints to understand what we can do better USF School of Public Affairs
