Congratulations to my student, Debasish Saha 👏

How do #neurons decode information from its surroundings? We present a mathematical #model that captures neuronal sensing and adaptation to thermal variations while retaining memory of past temperatures, in the model organism, C. elegans. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Abhilasha Batra

Day 1 of Interactions, the Chemistry in-house Symposium. Nafisa presented her research through a poster. And, Prof. Parbati Biswas from Delhi University visited us and gave a wonderful talk. Dept of Chemistry, IISER Bhopal

Day 2 of Interactions: Abhilasha Batra gave a talk and Charu presented a poster. Charu also got awarded the best poster prize :) Dept of Chemistry, IISER Bhopal

The schedule for IBS2025 is out! Looking fwd to hosting an excellent lineup of researchers at IIT Madras. The GN Ramachandran Lecture will be delivered by Eugene Shakhnovich! Thanks to IBS (Sudipta Maiti, Neelanjana Sengupta), IIT Madras, and sponsors. pbl.biotech.iitm.ac.in/IBS/Schedule.h…

This is now published in its final form! Main take-away is that introduction of reversibility in a signalling pathway leads to a lowering of mutual information. Information transfer gets reduced. So happy to report this story on how receptor guanylyl cyclases in AFD neurons regulate heat shock response in C. elegans. We find that among the three gcys, gcy-18 and -23 are the key regulators. Very nice meticulous work carried out by Abhilasha Batra biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
