I’d add: the larger question is why do universities with track records of denying academic freedom continue to rank well? This sort of thing should be scandalous, but it’s not.

Disheartened that a screening in Bombay of the seminal Arna's Children by Juliano Mer-Khamis has been equated with terror-glorification and being pro-Hamas. Sharmistha Saha is a serious theatre scholar who we look forward to meeting and learning from in Warwick in 2 weeks time.

Sruti Bala and I wrote this statement in response to threats, media vilification, and police complaints against colleagues who screened the documentary Arna’s Children at IIT Bombay. Protestors demanded that they “should be shot dead”. thetheatretimes.com/reflections-on… TheTheatreTimes.com

Friends, everyone should watch the documentary Arna's Children (2004), about children growing into adults in occupied Palestine. It's heartrending and humanizing. And please read this letter: a professor at IIT-Bombay has come under fire for screening it. youtube.com/watch?v=DvtzDP…

What does Mumbai’s T2 terminal have in common with Peter Brook’s Mahabharata, Madhur Jaffrey’s ‘stews’ and the liberalization of India’s economy? The answers & more feature in my forthcoming Cambridge UP - Literature & Performance element. V grateful to Liz Tomlin & Prof Trish Reid. cambridge.org/core/elements/…

Last-minute cancellations and funding cuts are happening thick and fast. One more since this article was published: HKAPA cancelling graduation performance of Dario Fo’s “Accidental Death of an Anarchist”. #censorship #artinthenewhongkong scmp.com/news/hong-kong…

There's been a lot of excellent resource sharing webpages on Palestine but I'm struggling to find good academic responses to the situation in Gaza (for something that I'm currently working on). I know that this is a hard ask but I would be grateful for any suggestions/leads.

Thrilled to announce that my second, smaller, but no less beautiful book baby is finally out in the world! If you’re interested in Cold War cultural diplomacy, exhibitions, and where stars such as Peter Brook got their endless funds from, the book is free to download for 2 weeks.

Delighted and terrified in equal measure that my first book is finally out! If you’re into #appliedtheatre, problems with #globaldevelopment and transnational collaboration, and reflective practice, hopefully this will be of interest link.springer.com/book/10.1007/9…

Breaking my social media hiatus for this Parsiana review of Kathryn Hansen's work on Parsi theatre. It had been sitting at the back of my throat for 15 years. Here's hoping we can now stop reducing the 19th century South Asian stage to a utopic site of communal harmony.
