Not true, of course. Germans have been net leaving major German cities for more than a decade now, plus natural decline, replaced by foreigners (not even EU ones any more). "Swabians out, Syrians in" is a particularly stupid ingroup/outgroup/fargroup dynamic.

It fascinates me that we have a society that strongly stigmatises those who don’t contribute to society in the short term (through work) but is entirely ambivalent about those who don’t contribute in the long term (intentional childlessness).

RIP Leon Krier, brilliant Luxembourg architect and urban planner. You will be missed. I regularly use his graphic explainer showing that good urban design uses building frontages to establish a physical distinction between public and private realms.
