Honored to be part of the nutrition conclave of DMF Keonjhar, Odisha to address child malnutrition which leads to poor physical, language, socioemotional & cognitive devlpmt & perpetuate the poverty trap throughout one’s life. I shared the Indian adapted #MAMI carepathway package

It was an honor to participate in the conclave & sharing the protocol of identification & management of growth failure among infants under 6 months. Some of the initiatives by the district administration like creche for children & other nutritional interventions are exemplary.

Creche for children has a multiplier effect. It not only promotes ECD and child nutrition, but it is also a gender transformative intervention that allows caregivers to take up education and other economic activities or other vocations. This should be scaled up all across.

SAAMAR program has the potential to bring down the burdens of child undernutrition & aneamia. The prog equips the frontline workers to identify & manage uncomplicated children with SAM & complement the facility SAM management at MTCs. A much needed comprehensive nutritional care

The study reveals a high burden of undernutrition in infants <6m in India. A national management strategy comprehensively, which could address all the associated risk factors such as LBW, infants and maternal nutrition, and health, is important for effective outcomes.
