This snapshot was taken on Christmas morning 1944 outside the WAAF quarters at Petersfield House in Horning, Norfolk. These young women worked as radar operators, mechanics and plotters at the Neatishead GCI Station. By 1944 there were well over 100 WAAFs working at Neatishead.

Fascinating visit to RAF Air Defence Radar Museum today. Bit concerned that the primary defence of the country during the cold war fell to four blokes with pickaxe handles though!

This night, on July 18th, 🇺🇦Ukrainian air defense intercepted 31 kamikaze drones, a reconnaissance UAV and 6 missiles that the 🇷🇺Russian armed forces launched against #Ukraine.

A very interesting series, 80 years ago the threat of Luftwaffe bombers was much diminished, but the strikes of the new V1 and V2 weapons was soon felt and led to new developments in radar and air defence to try to meet this threat - which will feature in our new exhibition.
