At the Danish parlement for an important conference how Denmark can contribute to actions against #AMR antibiotic resistent bacteria. We need significant investment in new solutions. I suggest #phages and phage-derived #enzymes!

New MenT toxin-antitoxin paper for perusal! There are multiple routes to inhibit MenT toxins. Whilst phosphorylation was previously identified, the mechanism was unknown. We present a model wherein the antitoxin causes auto-phosphorylation of the toxin nature.com/articles/s4146…

We have a new preprint from Ginny Giang Nguyen and Michael Michael Schelling! We show that target-strand nicking by the Cas9 HNH domain can provide #CRISPR-mediated phage protection and that nicking may be the primary Cas9 activity under some cellular conditions.

It's exciting to see Foldseek search integrated into the AlphaFold database. Now, you can explore similar structures in PDB and AFDB50 directly on each AFDB page, along with the Foldseek clusters! It is really great for the community to have independent servers as choice.

The ever amazing Artyom Egorov in our group has made a new visualisation tool for comparative genomics. Makes particularly beautiful images of phages, plasmids, other MGEs or regions of prokaryotic genomes 😍 biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…
