Nearly half a million people are estimated to be affected by floods across South Sudan. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs – OCHA South Sudan, says flooding has impacted 472,000 people in 26 of the country’s 78 counties.

At least 30 schools in Aweil South County, Northern Bahr-el-Ghazal, have been completely destroyed by floods after heavy rains over the past two months. According to county commissioner Luka Thel Thel, the flooding has disrupted education for up to 12,000 children.
