Sep 11 1944 - The trial of 50 black US seamen charged with mutiny begins. Following a massive explosion a few weeks earlier that killed 300, mostly black, seamen at the Port Chicago ammunition loading port near San Franciso, 100s of black navy sailors refused to load ammunition.
