A memorial to a scientist who was murdered by her ex-husband in 1978 has been unveiled at the university where she worked. University of Aberdeen has dedicated a plaque to Dr Brenda Page next to its laboratories, and a tree has been planted in her memory.

An arrest has been made after an injured woman died in Aberdeen. Police were called to Auchinleck Road in the early hours and the 34-year-old woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. She died a short time later. A 30-year-old woman has been arrested. More follows.

News just in: Three minor injury units will close overnight in a bid to save money. Reducing the 24-hour clinics in Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Huntly was voted on by the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

UPDATE: The inpatient ward at Peterhead Community Hospital is to be closed and patients relocated to Fraserburgh Community Hospital after legionella was discovered in the water supply. Some services have been suspended or reduced since the discovery. 1/2

Aberdeen City Council figures as of January 2023:
- 461 'rateable units' on Union Street
- 346 occupied
- 115 vacant (Four more than September 2022)

The council says plans to bring empty shops back into use and increase footfall are ongoing.
