I caught up with three experts and asked them what they think about a new law that allows armed teachers and staff in Tennessee schools.

The consensus was clear: It's a high-risk, complicated concept that should be handled with extreme caution. tennessean.com/story/news/edu…

First Amendment rights on private university grounds is a tricky beast to understand, but in short: you essentially only have what the university grants you and nothing more (within reason). They do not have to adhere to the 1A.

I’m usually on top of my emails but this Tennessee legislative session has made that a tall order. If you tried to reach me in the last month or two and I didn’t reply, I’m truly sorry.

I finally have it all organized into my folder system again. We’ll see how long it lasts. 😅

After months of discussion and a last-minute deal, Tennessee lawmakers put the decision on holding back fourth graders into the hands of schools and parents.

Up to 6,000 kids may have been held back under the state's reading law if the bill didn't pass.

Some Middle Tennessee school districts have already said they won't allow teachers to carry guns, despite a newly-passed bill. Most deferred answering the question because the measure is not yet law, pending action by Gov. Bill Lee.

Here's what I found out.
