The current state of education is a lot less about teaching standards and a lot more about teaching *conditions*. Our students would have a much better and higher quality experience if we were given the time, space, and financial compensation to actually do our jobs properly.

3 days of #MCLS2024 fun and I have a very tired brain but a very happy heart. I couldn’t imagine a conference full of kinder, smarter or more friendly people. Community is a wonderful thing, and this is a special one 💕

So many people couldn’t understand why my mam decided to go to college in her late 50s, but 5 years later she’s finished with first class honours and her friends threw her a surprise graduation party tonight and my heart is so happy for her 💕💕💕🥰

I hate renting so much. I wish I had something more profound to say about it, but I’m just sick of all the stress that comes with your home not being your own. Better, more tenant-friendly legislation can’t come soon enough!

Do any other UK academics have major issues getting their Uni to let them use basic open source software? Getting RStudio was a battle and I’m told it could be months for them to even consider approving Gpower! Just trying to understand if it’s a sector thing or an ‘us’ thing.

AI researchers really need to stop equating brains and modern neural networks. The only similarity is that we don’t fully understand either of them
