If there is a standout first time candidate in this election it is Dr Dr Laura Keyes who has put in an amazing campaign for directly elected mayor of Limerick. I would recommend that anyone who can vote for her does. She would be a brilliant mayor for everyone in Limerick.

Results from Ireland South reflect a failure of government & opposition parties to address basic issues of housing and health. The result is 25,000 votes for a nazi. The Left must develop a popular politics that counters the hate-based bigotry of the far-right before the next GE.

Waterford Coalition Against Fascism Statement: On Sunday 15th September, we would like to welcome all who stand against hate to stand proudly with our diverse communities throughout Waterford. (1/5)

We represent the Waterford Coalition Against Fascism and we are organising a counter-protest for the 15th of September. We represent a number of local community and union organisers, and political parties with anti fascist, anti racist, pro LGBTQIA+, inclusive values. (2/5)

At 2pm on the 15th September, we will be gathering at the Bandstand in Ballybricken to stand together as a diverse, welcoming community in direct opposition to a proposed gathering of far right, and fascist organisers and their supporters from around the country. (3/5)

We use this opportunity to send a clear message to the far-right and to all of Waterford and Ireland that we will not allow hate and fear to divide us. We won't allow the marginalised among us to be scapegoats for the failures of government and the greed of landlords. (4/5)
