So much of the language used to justify school closures in Ontario was built upon phrases like "vectors of transmission." Which is kind of scary, when you pause to consider that this is children they were talking about.

How many of the "TV docs" in Ontario who defended lockdowns have anyone in their immediate social circle who was directly affected by closures? i.e., restaurant servers, employees of small businesses, hair stylists, etc.

.Western University on August 22, 2022: We have "the goal to lift the mask mandate as soon as possible." Meanwhile, crickets, as respiratory-attributable hospitalizations in Ontario are at all-time lows for January. (See the black line on the graph for current situation.)

As @westernu finally removes the last vestiges of its masking mandate, let's remember one important lesson: Never again. Ontario: We must never again close classroom for months on end and we mustn't punish children or young adults for our worries.

This guy, Kamil Bachouchi, has been amazing, haha. And yes, it's beyond time.

It's beyond time. Anyone who wonders what classroom masking at @westernu looked like should look at the article photo. Unfortunately, some profs *did* try enforcing the mandate, which created unneeded tension among students. Ageism and classism.

"Follow the science" was never about science. Mask mandates are the perfect example.

This is why it was (well) beyond time for @westernu to drop its "instructional space" mask mandate. Wilfrid Laurier University and Brock University to follow, one trusts.

"The lockdowns didn't work." And I include under "lockdowns" any lingering mandatory measures, which are (slowly) being lifted, such as at Western University.
