We had the most spectacular lunar halo tonight. (I usually post single exposures, but here the face of the Moon is from a separate shot — it was just too bright otherwise. This is much closer to how it looked.)

A collage of some of my simulations of galaxy interactions and real observed galaxies from some Sloan Digital Sky Surveys images. Thinking of re-running the best ones at much higher resolution with ALL THE PHYSICS

Has it hit or will it hit tomorrow? Prediction models of the recent #solarstorm launch disagree! NOAA/SWPC says it already hit, while NASA says impact will be late Jan 18. Either way, expect mild #aurora at high latitudes; only minor issues with #emergency radio & #GPS reception!

As dark skies have returned I thought I’d venture out of the solar system for a change and image something a little further away. Here’s the beautiful Double Cluster in Perseus imaged from #London last night. #astronomy #astrophotography #canonphotography #space
