25 years ago today, LPC designated the Poppenhusen Branch of Queens Public Library a landmark. Built in 1904 in Classical Revival style on land donated by College Point, it’s one of 67 libraries built citywide in the early 20th century funded by a grant from steel magnate Andrew Carnegie.🧵1/2

📚 Early access to books + literacy programs helps close learning gaps and ensures every child has the tools to thrive. This afternoon, Carlina will chair a hearing focused on supporting NYC's youngest readers, in which the public library systems will outline their programming.
