Queen Mary University of London called the police on their own students today.

Jo THIS. They had banners. Just banners. Disproportionate use of force against the people you're supposed to have a duty of care towards. And that while the force you're calling in is under scrutiny for institutional racism, and the people you' have a duty of care for are POC.

Powerful protest yesterday by QMUL students calling for 🥊a demarketised, democratic and decolonised system that works for all 🥊the withdrawal of the punitive ASOS deductions for Queen Mary UCU members 🥊the abolishment of grade 1 and better pay for QMUL staff in low wages

Beyond our uni's agenda, which is one rooted in performativity & exclusivity despite what QMUL says, @QMUL_CS and the groups they include demand that education is radically transformed in order for all peoples to build knowledge collectively & work towards community-led change.

& the Justice for Tower Hamlets Community Housing Residents campaign. We fight with and alongside all those resisting state violence, especially those at the hands of the Met police, and all those resisting these same systems throughout the Global Majority.

We also include, and therefore will always stand with, Black, poc, racialised international students and all marginalised students who face all kinds of discrimination, especially racism, classism, Islamophobia and anti-Blackness every day at QMUL.

From insensitive readings, surveillance & attendance monitoring, racist lecturers and seminar tutors & their microaggressions, & a lack of care and adequate resources for us to be able to confront these instances, we work primarily for students who are most often excluded here
