Blue Funnel Line’s “Cyclops” “Bluey” as some affectionately recognized them as was “Cyclops” visited Brisbane often. “Cyclops” was built in Glasgow in 1906. She was chased by submarines on 3 occasions during WW II. The first 2 she slipped away, but the 3rd time proved fatal.

Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Fountain, installed in the Brisbane river, marked the celebration of the Queen's Silver Anniversary of reign. It was activated by the Queen personally on 11 March 1977. The fountain, a popular landmark, though proved troublesome and simply sank.
