Come check out our paper tomorrow - Atefeh and Yasmine Belghith found three distinct approaches to young learners' interactions with ChatGPT: testers, socializers, and explorers. They also discuss common AI misconceptions and opportunities for young learners with regards to AI.

A leading candidate for this sort of theory is "Mutual Theory of Mind" by Qiaosi (Chelsea) Wang (first in this #CHI2021 paper: dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/34…). I sadly missed their #CHI2024 workshop, but if such theories can produce non-trivial models of human-AI interaction, many would listen!

Our latest JCMC paper explores the emotional implications of AI companionship by analyzing 35,000+ posts from r/replika. We uncover seven types of human-AI interactions and their links to user emotions, revealing the bittersweet "paradox of emotional connection with AI". 🤖❤️
