Today, ocean warming magnitude differs between low, mid, and high latitudes. Subtropical oceans warm much more than subpolar oceans. Yang et al. propose that likely this pattern is only a passing feature, emerging only during the early stage of anthropogenic warming.

LLMs can summarize, aggregate and convey localised climate-related data to people cost-effectively and expeditiously. This Comment shows a simple, proof-of-concept prototype and argues that the approach has the potential to democratize climate information. nature.com/articles/s4324…

We found an Arctic freshwater anomaly has shifted to a buffer zone just behind the doors leading to the North Atlantic. A "natural experiment" is getting set up. New observations in the North Atlantic in coming years can be used to test diff. hypothesis! doi.org/10.1038/s41561…

The eastern Arctic Ocean became warmer with weakened stratification in the 2010s, the so-called "atlantification". This paper compares different hypotheses, showing that sea ice decline was the main driver, while natural variability played smaller role. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

New modeling shows that the main cause of recent Artic Ocean “atlantification”—becoming notably warmer and saltier—was the decline in sea ice, marking #ClimateChange as more influential than natural variation. bit.ly/4i49mad Qiang Wang
