The Purdue Fruit & Vegetable Field Day was held on July 18 at Meigs Farm. Over 75 attendees learned about the latest research on weed & pest management in horticultural crops. Thanks to faculty, staff, & grad students from HLA and Purdue Entomology who made the day a success.

We got our first harvest of lettuce from the container farms last week! At full capacity, one container farm can produce almost 1000 heads of lettuce per week! All produce grown will go towards the Student Farm CSA or to Hospitality & Tourism Management for use here on campus.

Esperanza Zambrano is a visiting Texas A&M-Kingsville student in the Widhalm Lab through the 2024 Purdue Undergraduate Research Experiences for Plant Biology and Data Science program. She presented her research at the 2024 Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium last week.

Earlier in the month we hosted C-PASA (Cargill-Purdue Agribusiness and Science Academy) high school students. They learned how an orchardist knows when to harvest apples. They also had an opportunity to tour the Purdue Student Farm. (2/3)
