Interesting result for 4 of the 5 rides for jockey Sairyn Fawke yesterday at Streaky Bay and for all three runners for last year's Provincial trainer of the year! #last

The number of race meetings in SA that are called off on the day due to tracks being sub-standard has reached a crisis point..and it is now time for a real shake up in the way things are managed ...(cont.on p2)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Racing SA, Racing SA Stewards, race clubs and their track staff all need to accept responsibility and blame. We have an Industry Track manager but you wouldn't think so. Tracks need to be inspected at least 7 days before a meeting . (cont P3)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And walking the track does not mean a cursory stroll down the home straight..it means the whole track. The cost of calling off a meeting is a double whammy...the cost for all stakeholders getting to the track and home again is enormous. I know there is compensation (cont on p4)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The compensation becomes a cost, the zero turnover becomes a cost and if the meeting cannot be run then that is a cost. And that doesn't include catering costs by the club. (cont on p5)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If there is no change in the way things are managed we will continue to have meetings called off. I call on all everyone in Racing SA from top to bottom to have a quantum shift in management with what happens in the lead up to each meeting . (cont p6)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And that includes identifying and fixing problems 7-14 days before a meeting, not just on raceday! For those who may not know, Naracoorte was called off today due to track issues only discovered today. This is not the first time this has happened. (cont p7)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This surely is the straw that has broken the camel's back! No more complacency, no more turning a blind eye, no more excuses. Find a new way.. just fix it!

What does lowering the limit weight for the Adel Cup achieve? Of the 17 horses, 14 weighted on 53, 2 on 53.5 and one on 58. Most jockeys will have to waste to ride at the weight and therefore be weakened. Not good and even worse in this heat! Why compromise our riders health?

If we had freedom of speech within the racing industry (which we don't) then there would be a huge outcry from industry participants about yet another SA meeting being called off because of problems with the track which only seem to manifest themselves on raceday. .../2

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

But we have deafening silence as everyone fears the repercussions if they dare speak out. Platitudinal statements from officialdom are simply inadequate. I want to hear a vow that increased resources will be provided to stem these incessant problems!

I was somewhat bemused to read the steward's report for r8 at Murray Br last Sat to see the rider of the 3rd horse was fined $1200 for not riding his mount out to the line for one stride, yet no realmention of the tactics on the two leaders who were a spent force by the home turn

Yet another SA race meeting abandoned due to the state of the track (Naracoorte on Sunday). Perhaps programming meetings at Naracoorte, Bordertown and Penola in winter is a bit unwise. Maybe Mt Gambier should be on standby for all meetings if other venues are deemed unsuitable.

Race 1 at Morphettville on Saturday..each horse has drawn the same barrier as it's saddlecloth number...only a 5 horse field I know..but 120/1 of that happening!

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Biggest day of the year at Port Lincoln today. The top brass from RacingSA are there, yet still there are problems with the track only becoming apparent just before race 1. And this is despite everything being ok on Wednesday . You have to wonder who is doing what and why?

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Perhaps we shouldn't have $50,000 Maiden races on a Saturday if 8 of the 13 horses are scratched. Obviously connections don't need the money and will never complain about low prize money ever again!

Punters thinking that the WorldPool on selected Aust. races is a good thing need to think again. On the TAB here the normal win pool takeout is 14.5%. On the world pool it's 17.5%. The TAB fixed odds SP market on AR6 on Sat was 119.82% but he World Pool tote was 121.80%..(cont.)

Peter M (@puntingpeter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Those hoping they'd get $5.70 about SirKingsford when the win pool was $240K would've been ill with the $3.15 on the WorldPool when the final win pool was $792K.So when the media hype the benefits of the world pool, don't buy it, it just a means of skimming more from the punter!

What has happened to racehorse Goldrush Guru?...from winning the VRC Derby last year to coming last beaten 15 lengths in a 5 horse field at Morphettville. The horse should be demanding his testicles back!
