K9 Astor faithfully served the Commonwealth 2013-2022. He and Cpl. Conrad worked on drug interdiction, helping seize roughly $9 million in narcotics and illicit currency. After retirement, Astor enjoyed a happy life with Conrad's family. He passed on August 23 at the age of 14.

Sometimes, wrangling animals is part of the job. A driver struck a hawk, and it was stuck in the vehicle’s grille. Trooper Miller of Troop T Somerset responded. After removing the bird, he contacted the PA Game Commission.

Last week, Pennsylvania State Police Troopers helped ensure that almost 90 child safety seats were installed correctly in the Philadelphia metro region during National Child Passenger Safety Week. Thank you to all who participated!

Troopers William Jenkins and Joseph Perechinsky received a Salute to Service award from their high school alma mater in Lackawanna County after both were shot on duty in August. Lakeland High made them honorary football team captains for their courage, heroism, and sacrifice.
