This by a classicist is excellent, the history of manuscript transmission with specific examples, the paucity of surviving manuscripts, rediscoveries of lost works, discoveries of works never known to exist, & the promise of accessing the carbonised scrolls from Herculaneum etc

( neo-Platonist dominance is only slightly lessened by Toledo & the “discovery” of Aristotle in the high middle ages but NP keeps going strong well into the early modern period )

Historian James Lin *loves* Kim & Wang’s iconoclastic paper on Taiwan’s land reform & situates the paper within historians’ own sceptical historiography of the reform. It’s nice when economists & historians are in sync & their work truly complement each other (for a change) 👏🏻🙌

Amusing thing about left-right economics culture wars on Twitter is both sides often quote each other by screenshot, sometimes without explanation because what is objectionable is obvious to the group, & just chuckle & hiss amongst themselves, without interacting with the other
