Setting up and playing with our new LDA system at Institute of Fluid Mechanics (LSTM)! Lets hope for cool turbulence data in the future! Thanks to Felix and Dantec for the organisation!

Now the ERCOFTAC DLES14 Workshop at Institute of Fluid Mechanics (LSTM) is finished. 3 days, 6 keynotes, 125 talks, 6 coffee breaks and 160 participants later, we like to thank a lot to all participants and everybody that helped to make it a nice event! Department Chemie- und Bioingenieurwesen (FAU) FAU Erlangen-Nbg. See you in two years in Delft!

Pipe flow is linearly stable, this we know and teach our students in stability courses... but why? Check our paper "Modal stability analysis of toroidal pipe flow approaching zero curvature" in JFM as one approach with the magic number De_c=113 - bit.ly/3yueKBk

Excited to announce that our EuroHPC proposal has been granted 470,000 node-hours on the LUMI supercomputer! We'll be using NEKO for large-scale DNS of pipe flows and curved boundary layers to advance turbulence research. Read more about it here: lstm.tf.fau.de/?p=5153

CaNS, the flow solver I wrote in a break in the summer of 2017, has reached 200⭐️ on GitHub 🤩. I did not anticipate the impact that this code had on my work and all the cool things many others have done with it. New version will come soon with several important updates!
