Watching our friend and collaborator Prof Joanne Preston - Coastal Restoration Lab giving a great talk at the Restoring Sussex Bay, Together launch today in Brighton. #sussexbay

A very special morning at Calshot! #seagrass seed coming along nicely and the meadow looking very green. We'll be collecting soon! Also some impressive areas of Lanice conchilega (sand mason) reef! Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust Marine Solent Seascape Project UoP Marine Biology

Early start! Work work work! #solentseagrassrestoration project. @hiwwtmarine UoP Marine Biology BoskalisWestminster IOWDistillery FatFace Foundation Vp plc

What with Calshot yesterday and Seaview this morning, this year's #seagrass seed collection has got off to a great start! #solentseagrassrestoration project. @hiwwtmarine UoP Marine Biology BoskalisWestminster IOWDistillery FatFace Foundation Vp plc

A little #seagrass "rescue fragment" washed up on the shore at #LeeontheSolent this morning along with some spathes with seed! And an eclectic collection of beach spoor, which hopefully doesn't indicate an angling trip gone badly wrong! Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust Marine

An #Aegean #seascape for a change, but still two #seagrass species to see close to shore, just like the #Solent . But here it's Posidonia oceania (Neptune grass) and Cymodocea nodosa (little Neptune grass). Up early for a seagrass recce at Calshot this morning and turned up a nice moulted shell (exuvia) of Corystes cassivelaunus (masked crab). Usually hidden, buried in the sand, using their antennae as a breathing tube, but we've seen a few this year! Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust Marine Solent Seascape Project

Are we at The Wildlife Trusts just a bit too circumspect when we talk about ways to help protect our #seagrass meadows? Picked up a badge at Southampton International Boat Show yesterday and loving this "easy-to-understand" messaging from Ocean Conservation Trust

Quite a moment! At the National Marine Aquarium today for the LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES End of Project Conference! Four years of effort to protect and restore #seagrass meadows distilled into some great presentations, all kicked off by Tony Juniper #SaveOurSeabed Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust Marine The Wildlife Trusts

My favourite scrap of #Gosport saltmarsh taking a pounding this morning from rafted algal overgrowth and marine mega-litter: a sofa "corpse", old mooring buoy and a pontoon, stuffed with an eye watering load of future #marinemicroplastics ! Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust Marine Solent Seascape Project

ReMEDIES #saveourseabed closes today after 5 years developing strategies to protect & restore seabed habitats in England. Film maker Lewis Michael Jefferies captures the beauty of seagrass beds & celebrates the project in this video youtu.be/GGOUB8xehrI narrated by Gillian Burke
