It was such a joy and privilege to talk with Emily Habeck at brookline booksmith yesterday—so much fun that I forgot to take a picture! But a huge thank you to them, and to each and every one of the people who came (and waited so patiently in the signing line!)

I met so many writers (some studying at Emerson, some just starting to apply to programs, some just striking out on their own). It makes me want to cheer. Please tell your stories—we need them.

I met a bunch of book groups who came together. Moms and daughters. Couples and friends. One person told me she made a new friend waiting in line for the reading and they had just gone to get sushi together. 🥹 (Brilliant move, two great sushi places within 5 min of the store!)

I got to chat with teachers and librarians, and a few students who’d read my books in school! One told me she wrote her final paper on one of my novels. 🥹😭

As a shy introvert, I’m always nervous before events, but it is genuinely a gift to be able to chat with readers and hear that my books meant something to them. It is so powerful and humbling to have someone say your writing resonated with them. Thank you. ❤️
