In Switzerland the snowdrop is called the “amselblümli”, or “black bird flower”, because it blooms in late-winter when the amsel (blackbird) starts to sing its most beautiful song. Together the flower and bird herald the end of winter and coming of spring. #FolkloreSunday #nature

Have you started your festive baking? Here is a Welsh recipe for a 'cheap and good' Christmas pudding you could try! The recipe comes from a book written by Thomas Thomas, circa 1880 🧁🍽️ #christmaspudding #history #arhives #ceredigion #exploreyourarchive #EYAfestive

My favourite word!! My favourite thought! Possibly my first tattoo 🤦‍♀️ A Glimmer ⭐️⭐️ Every day, from the moment I wake, I look! I look for the one little hook that will pull me up straight and give me hope for the day! ⭐️⭐️ A Glimmer!!! ♥️

This map of Wales, painted by Welsh-French-Quebecer artist Valériane Leblond is far more than a conventional atlas. Titled Gwlad y Gân (Land of Song), the characters, creatures and farmhouses are all taken from local folk tales, myths and legends. Which is your favourite myth?

The primrose is a birth flower for those born in #February. A legend tells that Flora, the goddess of #flowers, created it in memory of her son. She scattered its blooms through woods and meadows so each year, they would remind us of him and herald the coming of spring. #folklore

I have put this off for 5 years but April is Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Awareness Month so it is time to share this difficult read for which I make no apology. My son Joe was diagnosed with a brain tumour on Dec 24th 2019 and died on 3rd Jan 2020 aged just 26. Joe visited

In German lore rowan leaves are said to ease an aching back, and a yoke made of rowan wood will quieten a headstrong bull. In Scandinavia, a branch placed above the cowshed door wards off “flying dragons.” A churn carved from rowan brings butter swiftly to hand. #FolkloreThursday
