As Iheart blows on the smoldering ashes of the not quite destroyed Clear Channel empire by eliminating local talent, we should remind the FCC that the company, once a poster-child for the benefits of media consolidation, has continually undermined the localism policy objective.

Well it certainly looks like the NAB is going to file ahead of Saturday's deadline in the appeal of Prometheus Radio v FCC IV.

The FCC's cert petition in Prometheus Radio v. FCC is primarily complaining about how the Third Circuit has been mean because the agency can't figure out a viable minority ownership policy. Still waiting on NAB petition.

Neat: FCC : 33,553 Broadcast Stations in the U.S. Less Neat: Catastrophically low levels of ownership and operation of these stations by women and/or minorities. In a couple of weeks these two realities will come into conflict as Prometheus Radio v. FCC (IV) moves forward.
