Now here is a rare sighting; harbor seals and bald eagles together! Not sure what that eagle is eating, but it's got something. Spotted at Hungry Point in Fishers Island Sound. Photo courtesy of Marissa Gustafson.

Twenty-nine more ghost pots out of the Thames River. Plus a pile of other random junk, as can be seen on the port side deck. Here's Amy and Callie with the day's haul.

Yesterday, we celebrated Marine Science Day by visiting Project Oceanology to see their incredible programs in action! 🦀 Project O hosted today’s event for UConn Avery Point that brings middle school students from many different schools and homeschool programs. 🐟🦑🐚

Twenty-nine more ghost pots removed from Long Island Sound. We grappled around Avery Point today. Here are Callie and Amy with today's haul, along with a couple of tautog that are now enjoying their new found freedom!

Squid eggs, tapeworms, and a giant claw! This sampler platter of bycatch was collected by our Soundkeeper crew during Wednesday's outing of the Lobster Trap Removal and Assessment Partnership we're working on w/@maritimeaqua @proj_oceanology. 35 more ghost traps were hauled in.

Amazing catch in today's trawl! A female roughtail stingray (Dasyatis centroura). She measured 133 cm across and weighed close to 200 lbs. First such specimen in my 20 years of bio sampling Long Island Sound.

Twenty more ghost pots removed from Eastern LIS. Three tautog released, and some of our grappling hooks that needed to be reshaped after hooking something very heavy!

My coworker and dear friend Callie Scheetz took this photo during today's ghost pot recovery trip and it's just so spectacular I had to share it with you. Speaks for itself.
