Been an interesting #HFES2022 so far. Hopped on a 5am flight Mon to make the SPF training but health was trending downhill fast -- was sick with a 24-hr bug. Then slept 24-hr to make sure I got well in time to have dinner with my current and former students yesterday πŸ™‚

Riggs Lab alum, Shannon Devlin McGarry, PhD did a great job presenting her work titled, "The effectiveness of uncertainty communication with varied automation reliability: Specificity is necessary but (potentially) not enough." The findings were based from data from 271 pilots! πŸ‘€

Unfortunately they ran out of hard copies at #HFES2022. But there is a special online where you get both books for $20 with free shipping: resight.global/shop. The vendor said they are going to do the whole alphabet πŸ”€! Upcoming is A for affordances and B for biases

Did I win a research award recently? ❌ No. Did I receive new funding as of late? ❌❌ Alas, also no. BUT did I help my daughter win the pumpkin decorating contest at her school? Yes. I present you the fan favorite... The Pigeon πŸ†!

Great day advocating for the science of human factors on Capitol Hill. Having grown up in VA, it was especially exciting meeting staffers of senators (and former VA governors) Tim Kaine and Mark Warner Thank you HF/E Society for giving the Science Policy Fellows this opportunity

This is my 2nd full time job every Jan now. It is insane. This year, I went to sign up for two camps on Jan 6 thinking I was on top of things to find that there were already WAITLISTS for said camps 😢

I have not been able to catch a break recently, but historically this meant something good was on the horizon. Well, today the something good happened... Both my PhD students -- Lauren Horde and Nicholas Gardella -- were selected for the NSF GRFP!! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³
