for all of you attending #SPSP2019 (Society for Personality and Social Psychology), here's the official schedule for the Motivation Science pre-conference: meeting.spsp.org/preconferences… (with MANY thanks to Marina Milyavskaya, @edorehek, and E.J. Masicampo for putting this together!)
in the car, driving to the airport for #SPSP2019, catching up on The Black Goat episodes, and the first line is "why you shouldn't go to conferences" - AW SHUCKS, WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN TO THIS EARLIER
The Society for Personality and Social Psychology summer program (SISPP) was probably one of the most important experiences of my entire graduate training - the kis|mos program should be really similar, but specifically for motivation. What an excellent opportunity!
I spend my time helping SUNY Potsdam students get through college, but there's always room to help kids get to college in the first place. Anything I've ever done is thanks to someone opening a door for me - now, I get to open doors for everyone else.
including an excellent utility-value intervention paper by Emily Rosenzweig (Emily Rosenzweig)!
Submissions now open for the 13th annual meeting of the Society for the Science of Motivation in Chicago (May 2020, right before the Association for Psychological Science conference). The full Call for Submissions can be found at thessm.org/SSM2020CallFor… - we'd love to have you join us!
my fancy regalia is trapped in my office, so this is the best we can do for today's SUNY Potsdam virtual Commencement. GRADUATING SENIORS, LET'S DO THIS #SUNYPotsdamGrad #PotsdamProud
I try to give this advice to my own students all the time - it's great to have some extra support from SPSP Student Committee to back me up.
Back in November 2020, I had the honor of being involved with the TEDxSUNYPotsdam virtual event on "Identifying Moments" - here's my 12-minute take on the life story approach to identity. Thank you for coming to my TEDx talk. 🙂 youtube.com/watch?v=p-SM1e…
On November 8th, it will be my honor to join Laura Naumann, Ph.D. and Sylvia Stanley for a discussion on teaching first-generation college students. I'm *really* looking forward to this - thanks, Society for Personality and Social Psychology!
I know my colleagues from Society for the Science of Motivation, AERA Motivation SIG, AERA Division C, and APA Division 15 will also have some excellent strategies for supporting #FirstGen students - hope to see you there!
Hello, everyone! In about an hour, I’ll be answering questions for an Society for Personality and Social Psychology chat on “Teaching First-Gen College Students” – apologies for the incoming deluge of tweets #SPSPchat
